North Carolina High School Basketball - Avery County topples Polk County

In Friday's league outing, the Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC) basketball squad beat the visiting Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC), by a count of 52-36.

The Vikings (12-9) will now prepare for their outing against Madison (Marshall, NC). The Patriots go into the Western Highlands 1A/2A outing with a 13-6 record. In their last outing, Madison defeated Asheville Christian Academy (Swannanoa, NC), 55-41, in a non-league outing.

The Wolverines now hold a 8-11 record. They play next when they travel to Mountain Heritage for a Western Highlands 1A/2A outing on Monday, February 1. Polk County will clash with a Cougars squad coming off a 74-56 league win over Owen (Black Mountain, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 16-1.
