California High School Soccer - Miramonte nudges Campolindo
January 15, 2014: Orinda, CA 94563 Miramonte Matadors (Orinda, CA) backers left the game content Wednesday as they witnessed their soccer squad nudge the visiting Campolindo Cougars (Moraga, CA), 2-1 in a league battle.
The Matadors (7-2) will now prepare for their battle against Dougherty Valley (San Ramon, CA). The Wildcats go into the Diablo Foothill battle with a 3-8 record.
The Cougars (9-1) will now prepare for their battle against Las Lomas (Walnut Creek, CA). The Knights go into the Diablo Foothill battle with a 5-1 record. In their last battle, Las Lomas nipped Dublin (Dublin, CA), 1-0, in a league battle.
Game Summary
It was a close game but Miramonte came away with the win tonight. The Mats Seniors were strong this evening with Sarah Mills and Jane Fessenden holding down the back line with several steals on the night. Mali Tehaney held the game with 11 saves and only 1 goal from a foul kick by Emily Orwig. The kick was deflected off of the Defending Miramonte wall and ricochet, changing the direction of the ball, only to have it deflect to the left corner of the goal. Megan Reid sealed the win with the final goal sending the Mats off into the night with the win.
