The Stars now possess a 8-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Hilliard Davidson for a non-league battle on Saturday, January 26. Centennial will confront a Wildcats team coming off a 49-36 league win over Upper Arlington (Columbus, OH). The Wildcats record now stands at 12-3.
The Tigers (6-8) will now prepare for their battle against Linden-McKinley (Columbus, OH). The Panthers come into the Columbus City - North battle with a 7-10 record. In their last battle, Linden-McKinley dropped by Beechcroft (Columbus, OH), 65-50, in a league battle.
First Quarter
The Stars had a solid 1st Quarter scoring 15 points and holding East High to 8 points with strong defense.
Second Quarter
The Tigers rallied in the 2nd Quarter as Myles Martinez and Kelvin Gilliam found themselves in foul trouble and turnovers began to hurt the Stars. East High outscored the Stars 14 to 4 with many of the Stars starters on the bench in foul trouble.
Third Quarter
The Stars were dominant in the 3rd stanza and outscored East High 23 to 6 by sharing the ball in transition, executing in the half court, rotating on defense and rebounding.5 different players scored in the 3rd period led by Cam Kates with 7 and Jaylen Gilbert with 6. The score at the end of the 3rd was Centennial 42 East High 28.
Fourth Quarter
The Stars maintained their advantage in the 4th Quarter by fighting off East High's furious rally in the 4th Quarter. East High rallied to within 3 points with 3 minutes to go but were held off by Myles Martinez 12 point offensive onslaught and spectacular defensive activity by Travonne Jackson, Amin Mullins and Jaylon Jackson. Final score: Centennial Stars 66 East High Tigers 56.
