The Newton Railroaders basketball squad (Newton, KS), was crushed 74-45 in Friday's non-league battle with the visiting Northwest Grizzlies (Wichita, KS)

With the victory, Northwest advances its record to 8-3 on the year. The Grizzlies travel to Maize (Maize, KS) to meet the Eagles in a non-league battle on Saturday, January 25. The Eagles enter the battle with a record of 7-4. Maize won 64-51 in their recent non-league battle against Garden City (Garden City, KS)

The Railroaders now own a 4-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Arkansas City for a Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail II battle on Tuesday, January 28. Newton will meet a Bulldogs squad coming off a 49-47 non-league loss to El Dorado (El Dorado, KS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 2-7.
