New Mexico High School Volleyball - Los Alamos tips Pojoaque Valley
November 1, 2018: Pojoaque, NM 87506 The Los Alamos Hilltoppers (Los Alamos, NM) volleyball nudged the host Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes (Pojoaque, NM), 3-2 in Thursday's league outing.
With the win, Los Alamos betters its record to 12-8 on the year.
The Elks/Elkettes now sport a 17-3 record.
Match Summary
An awesome volleyball showing took place in Pojoaque this evening between the Los Alamos Hilltoppers and the Pojoaque Elkettes. Both tied for first place in District entering the match. It was an electric environment for all five sets. Los Alamos relied on its blocking and ability to pound the ball. The first set broke the Elkettes way with strong defense and timely kills.
The Hilltoppers did not give in and between solid back row defense and excellent three ball passes Elise Olivas was able to generate precise offense from Elodie Thelliez, Sophia Salazar and Natalie Gallegos. The fourth set belonged to the Elkettes as they kept Los Alamos out of system and ran hot from the service line.
The fifth set was dominated by Natalie Gallegos on the net and her stuff blocks. Gracie Swensen sealed the deal from the service line as the Hilltoppers took the Regular Season District Championship.
