New York High School Basketball - Dundee overwhelmed by Harley Allendale Columbia
January 20, 2018: Rochester, NY 14618 The Dundee Scotsmen basketball team (Dundee, NY), was overwhelmed 56-33 in Saturday's league battle with the host Harley Allendale Columbia Wolves (Rochester, NY)
The Wolves now possess a 7-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Honeoye for a Section 5 Finger Lakes - West battle on Friday, January 26. Harley Allendale Columbia will confront a Bulldogs team coming off a 58-48 league win over Bloomfield (Bloomfield, NY). The Bulldogs record now stands at 7-5.
The Scotsmen (3-9) will now prepare for their battle against Romulus (Romulus, NY). The Warriors come into the Section 5 Finger Lakes - West battle with a 5-7 record. In their last battle, Romulus was overwhelmed by Whitman (Rushville, NY), 50-38, in a league battle.
First Quarter
HAC put three players in double figures and led wire to wire to defeat rival Dundee for the first time since 2009, 56-33 in a rare Saturday afternoon tilt.
> HAC's Xavier Israel scored 19 points to lead all scorers and pace the Wolves to the victory. The win snapped a 14-game, 7-year losing streak against the Scots. It was the second convincing win in a row for HAC, who knocked off Red Jacket 65-38 on Thursday night.
> Using a tenacious man-to-man defense and quick ball movement, the Wolves (4-3, 7-4) raced out to a 24-7 lead after one quarter and then increased the lead to 36-11 at halftime. Israel had 11 points at halftime, but it HAC's balanced attack was too much for Dundee. Six players scored in the first half.
> Dundee made a push to open the third quarter outscoring HAC 5-2, but the Wolves regrouped defensively and and steadily increased their cushion.
Fourth Quarter
> For HAC, Ryan Hilton notched his 10th double-double of the season with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks, and Kyle Lacey netted 10 points. Point guard Yuhui Feng handled the ball deftly all game nailing 2 three pointers and a total of 8 points and 4 assists.
> Robbie Clark led Dundee (1-9, 3-9) with 6 points, while Michael Hand and Preston Cratsley had 5 points each.
