Elgin Comets (Marion, OH) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Fredericktown Freddies (Fredericktown, OH), 57-45 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Elgin upgrades its record to 22-4 on the season. The Comets host Hardin Northern (Dola, OH) to play the Polar Bears in a Northwest Central bout on Friday, February 16. The Polar Bears go into the bout with a record of 0-18. Hardin Northern lost 54-37 in their recent league bout against Ridgemont (Mount Victory, OH)

Next up, the Freddies play the Centerburg Trojans (Centerburg, OH) in a Knox Morrow bout, on Friday, February 16. Fredericktown will attempt to upgrade on its 7-14 season record. The Trojans go into the bout with a 3-15 record after their 52-34 non-league loss to Johnstown-Monroe (Johnstown, OH).
