Rhode Island High School Basketball - West Warwick beaten by Shea
February 6, 2019: Pawtucket, RI 02860 The Shea Raiders ran past the visiting West Warwick Wizards basketball team by a final score of 83-63 in Wednesday's league game.
In their next game, the Raiders face the Tolman Tigers (Pawtucket, RI) in a Division II game, on Friday, February 8. Shea will attempt to move on its 12-6 season record.
With the defeat, West Warwick moves to 12-7 on the year. The Wizards host Prout (Wakefield, RI) to face the Crusaders in a Division II game on Friday, February 8. The Crusaders enter the game with a record of 1-15.
Second Quarter
After cutting the Raider lead to 40-34 with less than :35 seconds remaining, the Wizards committed three turnovers which the Blue and Silver turned into 7 points for a 47-34 lead at intermission. Two-time All-Stater, Erickson Bans scored 17 of his game high 31 points in the first half. In addition, sophomore DeJuan Hayes scored 18 of his 22 points in the first half for the Raiders.
Fourth Quarter
In a roller coaster second half, Shea (9-4 in league play) held off West Warwick for an 83-63 home victory. The Wizards (12-7), who dropped to 8-7 in league play, were led by juniors Jakhai Rose (21 points and 15 rebounds) and John Pina (12 points).
