North Carolina High School Basketball - Polk County ripped by Avery County
January 8, 2019: Columbus, NC 28722 The Avery County Vikings basketball team scored 60 points and held the host Polk County Wolverines to 29 in the Vikings league triumph on Tuesday.
The Vikings now sport a 11-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Charles D. Owen for a Western Highlands 1A/2A contest on Friday, January 11. Avery County will meet a Warhorses team coming off a 69-54 non-league loss to Pisgah (Canton, NC). The Warhorses record now stands at 2-11.
The Wolverines (5-5) will now prepare for their contest against Piedmont Community Charter (Gastonia, NC). The Patriots enter the non-league contest with a 1-9 record. In their last contest, Piedmont Community Charter was routed by Cherryville (Cherryville, NC), 50-25, in a league contest.
