South Carolina High School Basketball - Spartanburg nips Northwestern

January 4, 2019: Spartanburg, SC 29307

Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Spartanburg Vikings (Spartanburg, SC) and the visiting Northwestern Trojans (Rock Hill, SC), saw Spartanburg's basketball squad hold off Northwestern by a tally of 65-61.

With the victory, Spartanburg improves its record to 7-4 on the campaign. The Vikings host Mauldin (Mauldin, SC) to play the Mavericks in a AAAAA Region II challenge on Tuesday, January 8. The Mavericks come into the challenge with a record of 12-3. Mauldin won 59-52 in their recent non-league challenge against Sumter (Sumter, SC)

Next up, the Trojans play the Clover Blue Eagles (Clover, SC) in a AAAAA Region III challenge, on Tuesday, January 8. Northwestern will attempt to improve on its 12-2 season record. The Blue Eagles come into the challenge with a 11-4 record after their 72-58 non-league win over Hilton Head (Hilton Head Island, SC).
