Texas High School Basketball - Northbrook trounced by Strake Jesuit
January 30, 2009: Houston, TX 77036 The Strake Jesuit Crusaders routed the visiting Northbrook Raiders basketball team by a final score of 72-19 in Friday's league game.
In their next game, the Crusaders face the Alief Elsik Rams (Houston, TX) in a 5A Region III District 18 game, on Tuesday, February 3. Strake Jesuit will attempt to move on its 27-0 season record.
With the defeat, Northbrook moves to 0-16 on the year. The Raiders host Memorial (Houston, TX) to face the Mustangs in a 5A Region III District 18 game on Tuesday, February 3. The Mustangs enter the game with a record of 13-12.
First Quarter
The Crusaders made sure to play with a sense of urgency this time around against Northbrook. Jumping out to an early lead, the Crusaders would look to make their game a short one.
Second Quarter
Up by as many as 40 leading into the the 2nd, the Crusaders would shoot 45% in this quarter while holding the Raiders to a 10% shooting quarter.
Third Quarter
By the start of the 3rd quarter, Jesuit's starters were done for the night and most of the team's reserves would get a big amount of the playing time.
Fourth Quarter
With the game well under control, the Crusaders made sure to show class and sportsmanship in this lopsided contest. Playing 1/2 court zones, and walking the ball up on any possesion, the game came to an end with both teams wishing each other well on the rest of their respective seasons.
