Lovington Wildcats (Lovington, NM) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Portales Rams (Portales, NM), 70-61 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Lovington upgrades its record to 18-11 on the season. The Wildcats travel to Valley (Albuquerque, NM) to play the Vikings in a non-league bout on Wednesday, March 13. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 22-6. Valley won 64-23 in their recent non-league bout against Bloomfield (Bloomfield, NM)
