The Ashe County Huskies tipped the visiting Avery County Vikings basketball team by a final score of 51-48 in Wednesday's non-league game.

In their next game, the Huskies face the Wilkes Central Eagles (Wilkesboro, NC) in a Mountain Valley 1A/2A game, on Friday, January 15. Ashe County will attempt to move on its 9-6 season record. The Eagles enter the game with a 10-5 record after their 73-42 league win over Starmount (Boonville, NC).

With the defeat, Avery County moves to 8-8 on the year. The Vikings travel to Mitchell (Bakersville, NC) to face the Mountaineers in a Western Highlands 1A/2A game on Friday, January 15.
