The Lexington Yellowjackets (Lexington, NC) basketball edged the visiting Morehead Panthers (Eden, NC), 53-49 in Thursday's non-league bout.

The Yellowjackets now possess a 7-7 record. They play next when they travel to East Davidson for a 1A/2A Central Carolina bout on Friday, January 24. Lexington will play a Golden Eagles team coming off a 56-42 league win over West Davidson (Lexington, NC). The Golden Eagles record now stands at 4-12.

With the loss, Morehead falls to 6-11 on the campaign. The Panthers host McMichael (Mayodan, NC) to play the Phoenix in a 2A Mid-State bout on Saturday, January 25. The Phoenix go into the bout with a record of 4-11. McMichael lost 60-39 in their recent league bout against West Stokes (King, NC)
