Chase Mahan has been named player of the year. "Chase Mahan is the 2016 Blackford MaxPreps Baseball Player of the Year. Despite a sore leg throughout much of the season, Chase lead the team in hits (28), home runs (5), RBI (21), hit by pitches (tied with 3), reached on error (9), and slugging percentage (.573). He was also second in on base percentage (.419). He lead by example and verbally at times. He also caught all but 2 innings behind the plate his junior and senior years. Congratulations to Chase Mahan! Go luck in the military! Make us proud!"
