Cory Turner has been named player of the year. "Cory is very deserving of the Maxpreps Player of the Year Award for the Golden Tornado Baseball Team. His ability to place his team above and beyond himself was evident from the first game of the season to the last. His willingness to sacrifice his body on every play on defense made for great moments in the field. His approach to hitting at the plate made him one of the toughest outs in the league. Cory’s speed on the bases made him feared by catchers in the Southeast Kansas League. Mr. Turner’s upside is vast and as a sophomore he is still learning the game. The team will expect him, as well as the coaching staff, to exceed the standard he set this season over the next season. Knowing Cory, his expectation is higher then those set by others. Thank you Cory for all your hard work this season. RISE UP!!!"
