In Friday's non-league match, the host Newton County Cougars football squad scored a good 32-13 victory over the Morton Panthers.

Next, the Cougars confront the Southeast Lauderdale Tigers (Meridian, MS) in a non-league outing, on Friday, September 11. Newton County will attempt to improve on its 1-0 season record. The Tigers go into the outing with a 1-0 record after their 20-18 non-league win over Northeast Lauderdale (Meridian, MS).

With the loss, Morton moves to 0-1 on the season. The Panthers travel to East Marion (Columbia, MS) to confront the Eagles in a non-league match on Friday, September 11. The Eagles enter the match with a record of 0-1. East Marion lost 40-6 in their recent non-league match against West Marion (Foxworth, MS)
