Indiana High School Basketball - University tops Pendleton Heights
December 18, 2020: Pendleton, IN 46064 University Trailblazers (Carmel, IN) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Pendleton Heights Arabians (Pendleton, IN), 64-45 in a non-league bout.
With the victory, University upgrades its record to 4-2 on the campaign. The Trailblazers host Traders Point Christian (Whitestown, IN) to play the Knights in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 19. The Knights come into the bout with a record of 1-3. Traders Point Christian lost 40-35 in their recent non-league bout against Eminence (Eminence, IN)
Next up, the Arabians play the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles (Noblesville, IN) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 19. Pendleton Heights will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Golden Eagles come into the bout with a 4-1 record after their 55-47 non-league win over Logansport (Logansport, IN).
First Quarter
Scoring was tough against a quick team, but Jamison Dunham managed to score 5 of our 6 points. Luke Candiano chipped in with a free throw and the scoring was over.
Second Quarter
The second quarter saw the Arabian offense improve, but still got outscored. Jamison Dunham scored 4 more points and Luke Candiano added 4 more points to his total as well. Josiah Gustin hit his first varsity bucket and also managed a blocked shot.
Third Quarter
The third quarter saw senior Zion Cook take charge and he poured in 15 points hitting on 4 of 4 three point shots, a 2 point bucket and 1 of 1 free throws. He also picked up 2 defensive rebounds and 2 assists. Jamison Dunham put in 2 more points and another defensive rebound.
Fourth Quarter
The fourth quarter was a struggle offensively for the team but Jamison Dunham managed to score 7 more points and pulled down another defensive rebound. Evan John hit a field goal and added 2 assists to his stats. Ethan Ross also scored 2 points, pulled down our only offensive rebound but 4 defensive rebounds to lead the Arabians in that category. Ethan also picked up our only steal. Luke Candiano scored another point for a total of 6. The two positive stats are that the Arabians hit 60% of their free throws and one more three pointer than University High School. We travel to Guerin High School Saturday night for back to back games.
