Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Franklin Cougars (El Paso, TX) and the visiting Coronado Thunderbirds (El Paso, TX), saw Franklin's basketball squad knock off Coronado by a tally of 61-51.

With the victory, Franklin improves its record to 17-3 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Americas (El Paso, TX) to play the Trail Blazers in a 6A Region I District 1 challenge on Tuesday, January 11. The Trail Blazers come into the challenge with a record of 22-1. Americas won 47-20 in their recent league challenge against Pebble Hills (El Paso, TX)

Next up, the Thunderbirds play the Eastwood Troopers (El Paso, TX) in a 6A Region I District 1 challenge, on Tuesday, January 11. Coronado will attempt to improve on its 7-10 season record. The Troopers come into the challenge with a 17-4 record after their 73-24 league win over Socorro (El Paso, TX).
