North Carolina High School Basketball - Burns overwhelmed by Polk County
January 12, 2024: Columbus, NC 28722 The Polk County Wolverines basketball team scored 59 points and restricted the visiting Burns Bulldogs to 24 in the Wolverines non-league victory on Friday.
The Wolverines now sport a 8-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Chase for a 1A/2A Mountain Foothills contest on Tuesday, January 16. Polk County will battle a Trojans team coming off a 50-3 league loss to Brevard (Brevard, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 0-9.
The Bulldogs (6-7) will now prepare for their contest against Bessemer City (Bessemer City, NC). The Yellow Jackets come into the 1A/2A Southern Piedmont contest with a 6-10 record. In their last contest, Bessemer City triumphed over Cherryville (Cherryville, NC), 69-27, in a league contest.
