The Matanzas Pirates basketball team scored 79 points and held the visiting Cornerstone Christian Cougars to 50 in the Pirates non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Pirates now sport a 10-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Menendez for a 6A District 5 contest on Friday, January 19. Matanzas will battle a Falcons team coming off a 56-36 non-league win over Duval Charter (Jacksonville, FL). The Falcons record now stands at 5-8.

The Cougars (6-10) will now prepare for their contest against Bolles (Jacksonville, FL). The Bulldogs enter the non-league contest with a 15-4 record. In their last contest, Bolles triumphed over Nease (Ponte Vedra, FL), 64-43, in a non-league contest.
