The crowd at Friday's league contest between the New Boston Lions (New Boston, TX) and the visiting Mt. Vernon Tigers (Mt. Vernon, TX), observed New Boston's football squad defeat Mt. Vernon by a count of 47-26.

The Lions now own a 1-5 record. They play next when they travel to Redwater for a 3A-1 Region II District 7 contest on Friday, October 16. New Boston will encounter a Dragons squad coming off a 13-0 league win over Prairiland (Pattonville, TX). The Dragons record now stands at 2-4.

Coming up next, the Tigers encounter the Winnsboro Raiders (Winnsboro, TX) in a 3A-1 Region II District 7 contest, on Friday, October 16. Mt. Vernon will attempt to upgrade on its 1-5 season record. The Raiders go into the contest with a 4-2 record after their 35-7 league loss to Daingerfield (Daingerfield, TX).
