In Thursday's non-league match, the visiting Sunrise Mountain Mustangs basketball team scored a tight 73-72 triumph over the Desert Mountain Wolves.

In their next game, the Mustangs face the Willow Canyon Wildcats (Surprise, AZ) in a non-league match, on Friday, January 7. Sunrise Mountain will attempt to move on its 15-1 season record. The Wildcats enter the match with a 12-3 record after their 93-50 league win over Glendale (Glendale, AZ).

With the defeat, Desert Mountain moves to 6-6 on the year. The Wolves host West Point (Avondale, AZ) to face the Dragons in a non-league match on Friday, January 7.
