Newport Wildcats (Newport, KY) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host New Palestine Dragons (New Palestine, IN), 72-66 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newport upgrades its record to 10-3 on the season. The Wildcats travel to Guerin Catholic (Noblesville, IN) to play the Golden Eagles in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 30. The Golden Eagles go into the bout with a record of 9-2. Guerin Catholic won 53-33 in their recent non-league bout against Lawrenceburg (Lawrenceburg, IN)

Next up, the Dragons play the Delta Eagles (Muncie, IN) in a Hoosier Heritage bout, on Friday, January 5. New Palestine will attempt to upgrade on its 4-2 season record. The Eagles go into the bout with a 10-1 record after their 52-43 non-league win over Northeastern (Fountain City, IN).
