Pennsylvania High School Baseball - Sharon nips Fort LeBoeuf
May 5, 2010: Sharon, PA 16146 Sharon Tigers (Sharon, PA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the visiting Fort LeBoeuf Bison (Waterford, PA), 5-4 in a non-league test.
With the win, Sharon upgrades its record to 8-4 on the season. The Tigers host Grove City (Grove City, PA) to battle the Eagles in a District 10 Region 5 game on Friday, May 7. The Eagles go into the game with a record of 12-3. Grove City won 11-1 in their recent non-league game against Harborcreek (Harborcreek, PA)
The Bison (8-6) will now prepare for their game against Seneca (Erie, PA). The Bobcats go into the non-league game with a 3-8 record. In their last game, Seneca was edged by North East (North East, PA), 12-3, in a league game.
Game Summary
Fort LeBoeuf and Sharon met up for an important non-region game Wednesday. Both teams needed the win to bolster their playoff resumes. The Tigers outlasted the Bisons in eight innings, 5-4. Sam Schweiss, Jason Sypolt, Taylor Senak and Xavier Mosley all had two hits for Sharon, while Zac Anderson had another triple. Anderson struck out six in six innings for a no decision, while Schweiss closed out the game with one strikeout in one inning. Nick Van Damia had two hits, while Lee Zeigler doubled and Tyler Geer drove in a run for LeBoeuf.
