Colorado High School Softball - Fairview Mountain Range
October 1, 2015: Westminster, CO 80234 The Mountain Range Mustangs softball team scored 10 runs and limited the visiting Fairview Knights to 4 in the Mustangs league triumph on Thursday.
With the triumph, Mountain Range moves its record to 15-1 on the year. The Mustangs travel to Legacy (Broomfield, CO) to clash with the Lightning in a 5A Front Range game on Saturday, October 3. The Lightning come into the game with a record of 7-8. Legacy lost 12-6 in their recent league game against Broomfield (Broomfield, CO)
In their next game, the Knights clash with the Legacy Lightning (Broomfield, CO) in a 5A Front Range game, on Tuesday, October 6. Fairview will attempt to move on its 2-15 season record. The Lightning come into the game with a 8-8 record after their 6-4 league win over Mountain Range (Westminster, CO).
Game Summary
The FHS Lady Knights were defeated by Mountain Range 10-4. The Mustangs pitcher, Hunter Huser was very effective in the circle, and was backed up by hitting through the lineup. MRHS had a productive 3rd frame, batting around the order.
The Knights had just 1 hit going into the 5th, but came to life after a MR pitching change tallying 11 hits. Jena Baro hit 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs; and, Sanko, Wilhelm, and Levenberg each hit 2 for 4.
On defense, the Knights were charged with just 1 error. Defensive plays of note included a foul popup near the fence that Faith Anderson hung onto and a soft foul popup that catcher Maddie Levenberg got under.
Katie Sanko started in the circle and pitched 3 1/3 innings. Story Fisher relieved and pitched into the 4th. Sanko returned and got out of a bases loaded 2 out jam with a strike out. Sanko allowed 6 runs on 9 hits, walked 2 and struck out 6. Fisher allowed 4 runs on 2 hits and walked 5.
