In Thursday's non-league match, the visiting Safford Bulldogs basketball team scored a tight 56-52 triumph over the San Carlos Braves.

In their next game, the Bulldogs meet the Catalina Trojans (Tucson, AZ) in a 3A South match, on Friday, January 17. Safford will attempt to move on its 2-8 season record. The Trojans enter the match with a 4-12 record after their 87-57 league loss to Pusch Ridge Christian Academy (Tucson, AZ).
