The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Rye Cove Eagles (Clinchport, VA) and the host Eastside Spartans (Coeburn, VA), observed Rye Cove's football squad defeat Eastside by a count of 48-36.

The Eagles now own a 6-1 record. They play next when they travel to Chilhowie for a non-league contest on Thursday, October 19.

Coming up next, the Spartans encounter the Twin Springs Titans (Nickelsville, VA) in a Cumberland contest, on Friday, October 13. Eastside will attempt to upgrade on its 3-3 season record. The Titans go into the contest with a 5-1 record after their 52-12 league win over Castlewood (Castlewood, VA).
