New York High School Softball - York felled by Avon
April 25, 2018: Retsof, NY 14539 In Wednesday's non-league outing, the visiting Avon Braves softball team scored a nice 11-0 win over the York Golden Knights.
Coming up next, the Braves encounter the Livonia Bulldogs (Livonia, NY) in a non-league outing, on Thursday, April 26. Avon will attempt to improve on its 5-1 season record. The Bulldogs enter the outing with a 5-2 record after their 15-0 league win over Dansville (Dansville, NY).
The Golden Knights (0-4) will now prepare for their outing against Wayland-Cohocton (Wayland, NY). The Eagles enter the non-league outing with a 7-2 record. In their last outing, Wayland-Cohocton prevailed over Wellsville (Wellsville, NY), 3-1, in a non-league outing.
Game Summary
Sophomore Alyssa Betron pitched a five inning no hitter with thirteen strikeouts for Avon. Alyssa allowed only three base runners on a walk, hit batter and wild pitch third strike. The Braves scored four runs in the first inning as Maddy Smith delivered a two out single to drive in the first two runs. Avon added three runs in the second as Joleigh Crye drove in two with a single. The Braves completed their scoring with four runs in the third inning. Morgan Fronk and Abby Decillis hit run scoring singles. Decillis finished 2-2 with two walks and three runs scored.
Avon is now 5-1 on the season.
