California High School Softball - Diamond Bar nudges Rowland
April 10, 2012: Diamond Bar, CA 91765 Diamond Bar Brahmas (Diamond Bar, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Rowland Raiders (Rowland Heights, CA), 4-3 in a league challenge.
The Brahmas now own a 7-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Los Altos for a Hacienda challenge on Tuesday, April 17.
With the loss, Rowland falls to 4-13 on the campaign. The Raiders travel to West Covina (West Covina, CA) to battle the Bulldogs in a Hacienda challenge on Thursday, April 12. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 8-6.
Game Summary
Brianna Gonzalez hit a game-winning, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Diamond Bar to a 4-3 win over Rowland in Hacienda League play April 10 at Diamond Bar High.
Gonzalez drove in Dani Wilson and Liz Rubalcava, who both got aboard by errors in the seventh. Rowland's Kaylea Snaer hit a solo homer over the right-field fence to give the Raiders a 3-2 lead in the top of seventh. Snaer, a junior who has committed to University of South Carolina, crushed a solo shot on the first pitch of the game. Snaer went 3-for-3 and drove in all three runs on two homers and a single for the Raiders (4-13, 1-3).
Liz Rubalcava had two hits and an RBI, Wilson doubled in the fourth, and Aubrey Horita had an RBI for the Brahmas (7-7, 3-1). Gonzalez finished with two hits and two RBI, Lizzy McCabe added two hits, while Kailey Duran and Amber Montes each scored a run for Diamond Bar. Pitcher Dani Wilson (3-1) earned the win by striking out nine and giving up three runs on nine hits.
