In Friday's non-league game, the Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) football team were victorious over the host Hickory Red Tornadoes (Hickory, NC), by a score of 40-13.

The Patriots (6-2) will now prepare for their game against East Rutherford (Forest City, NC). The Cavaliers come into the 3A/2A South Mountain game with a 5-3 record. In their last game, East Rutherford was knocked off by Burns (Lawndale, NC), 52-18, in a league game.

The Red Tornadoes now sport a 3-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to St. Stephens for a 4A/3A Northwestern game on Friday, October 22. Hickory will meet a Indians team coming off a 55-25 league loss to Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC). The Indians record now stands at 1-8.
