Springfield Tigers (New Middletown, OH) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Ursuline Fighting Irish (Youngstown, OH), 48-42 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Springfield upgrades its record to 14-6 on the campaign. The Tigers host McDonald (McDonald, OH) to play the Blue Devils in a Mahoning Valley - Scarlet bout on Monday, February 5.
