January 30, 2024: Williston, SC 29853 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Williston-Elko Blue Devils (Williston, SC) and the visiting Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks (Blackville, SC), saw Williston-Elko's basketball squad hold off Blackville-Hilda by a count of 71-68.
With the victory, Williston-Elko upgrades its record to 8-7 on the campaign. The Blue Devils host Denmark-Olar (Denmark, SC) to play the Vikings in a A Region 4 challenge on Wednesday, January 31. The Vikings come into the challenge with a record of 13-5. Denmark-Olar lost 86-79 in their recent league challenge against North (North, SC)
Next up, the Fighting Hawks play the Wagener-Salley War Eagles (Wagener, SC) in a A Region 4 challenge, on Thursday, February 1. Blackville-Hilda will attempt to upgrade on its 5-12 season record. The War Eagles come into the challenge with a 0-16 record after their 75-55 league loss to Ridge Spring-Monetta (Monetta, SC).
