Yough Cougars (Herminie, PA) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host McGuffey Highlanders (Claysville, PA), 27-26 in a league bout.

With the victory, Yough upgrades its record to 9-10 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to South Park (South Park, PA) to play the Eagles in a WPIAL 3A 4 bout on Thursday, February 8. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 12-6. South Park won 53-46 in their recent league bout against Waynesburg Central (Waynesburg, PA)

Next up, the Highlanders play the Charleroi Cougars (Charleroi, PA) in a WPIAL 3A 4 bout, on Thursday, February 8. McGuffey will attempt to upgrade on its 13-7 season record. The Cougars come into the bout with a 9-11 record after their 68-45 league loss to Brownsville (Brownsville, PA).
