North Carolina High School Volleyball - South Central overwhelmed by Hoggard
October 15, 2011: Winterville, NC 28590 Hoggard Vikings (Wilmington, NC) backers left the game in high spirits Saturday as they observed their volleyball squad top the host South Central Falcons (Winterville, NC), 3-0 in a non-league match.
Next up, the Vikings battle the New Hanover (Wilmington, NC) in a 4A Mideastern match, on Tuesday, October 18. Hoggard will attempt to better on its 16-3 season record. The come into the match with a 4-9 record after their 3-0 league loss to Ashley (Wilmington, NC).
With the loss, South Central drops to 8-2 on the campaign.
Match Summary
After watching Hoggard sweep Conley in the earlier match, South Central had a chance to put together a solid game plan. Using their big middle, Haley, who bombed away early in the match, Conley led deep into all three sets. Strong rallies and no-quit defense eventually led Hoggard the straight set win. Offense picked up the tab in this match, with Jamie Jarrell notching 18 Kills and Alyssa Zupan adding in 10 more. South did not go down easily, and all three sets were close with Central having leads deep into the 1st and 2nd sets, but again, Hoggard rallied to pull out the win.
