Monte Vista Monarchs (Spring Valley, CA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host Hilltop Lancers (Chula Vista, CA), 53-49 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Monte Vista upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Monarchs travel to Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, CA) to play the Lions in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 6. The Lions go into the bout with a record of 2-0. Oaks Christian won 64-55 in their recent non-league bout against Villa Park (Villa Park, CA)

Next up, the Lancers play the Point Loma Pointers (San Diego, CA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 9. Hilltop will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Pointers go into the bout with a 2-0 record after their 53-41 non-league win over Helix (La Mesa, CA).
