New Deal Lions (New Deal, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Smyer Bobcats (Smyer, TX), 59-26 in a non-league bout.

With the win, New Deal upgrades its record to 15-5 on the season. The Lions travel to Floydada (Floydada, TX) to play the Whirlwinds in a 2A Region I District 4 bout on Friday, January 14. The Whirlwinds go into the bout with a record of 15-1. Floydada won 46-25 in their recent non-league bout against Tahoka (Tahoka, TX)

Next up, the Bobcats play the Lockney Longhorns (Lockney, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, January 14. Smyer will attempt to improve on its 5-7 season record. The Longhorns come into the challenge with a 11-7 record after their 57-48 non-league win over Bovina (Bovina, TX).
