In Friday's league outing, the Cornell Raiders (Coraopolis, PA) basketball squad nipped the host Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA), by a margin of 63-59.

The Raiders (13-4) will now prepare for their outing against Western Beaver (Industry, PA). The Golden Beavers go into the WPIAL A 1 outing with a 7-9 record. In their last outing, Western Beaver was tipped by Lincoln Park Performing Arts (Midland, PA), 94-67, in a league outing.

The Scotties now own a 7-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Rochester for a WPIAL A 1 outing on Tuesday, January 31. Union Area will encounter a Rams squad coming off a 69-41 league loss to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (Coraopolis, PA). The Rams record now stands at 0-16.
