April 2, 2018: Sylva, NC 28779 Murphy Bulldogs (Murphy, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC), 11-8 in a non-league challenge.
The Bulldogs now own a 7-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Andrews for a Smoky Mountain 1A challenge on Tuesday, April 3. Murphy will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 7-0 league loss to Hayesville (Hayesville, NC). The Wildcats record now stands at 0-8.
With the loss, Smoky Mountain falls to 3-5 on the campaign. The Mustangs host North Buncombe (Weaverville, NC) to battle the Black Hawks in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 3. The Black Hawks enter the challenge with a record of 10-0. North Buncombe won 4-3 in their recent league challenge against T.C. Roberson (Asheville, NC)
