Kansas High School Basketball - South ripped by Heights
January 14, 2011: Wichita, KS 67219 The Heights Falcons basketball team scored 90 points and held the visiting South Titans to 34 in the Falcons league triumph on Friday.
The Falcons now sport a 8-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Lawrence for a non-league contest on Thursday, January 20. Heights will confront a Lions team coming off a 59-37 league loss to South (Olathe, KS). The Lions record now stands at 5-4.
The Titans (2-6) will now prepare for their contest against West (Wichita, KS). The Pioneers enter the Greater Wichita City contest with a 2-6 record. In their last contest, West was routed by Southeast (Wichita, KS), 71-65, in a league contest.
First Quarter
#1 Wichita Heights earned it's 27th straight victory 90-34 over Wichita South. Heights scored 31 points in the first quarter. 8 players scored for the Falcons. Evan Wessel had 8, Terrence Moore and Perry Ellis each had 6. The Falcons limited the Titans to 10 points.
Second Quarter
Heights stayed hot. 7 players scored. Ellis had 7 including a 3 pointer. Moore had 4 and Jalen Owens had 4. Heights limited South to 10 points and led 54-20 at half.
Third Quarter
E.J. Dobbins started the 3rd quarter with a deep 3 pointer and the Falcons had another successful 8 minutes. Taylor Cross led Heights with 8 points including his first career dunk. Heights defense allowed only 9 points and led 75-29 heading into the 4th quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Height finished a great team effort by allowing only 5 South points. Wessel finished with 21 points and 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Ellis scored 19 points, 4 steals and 5 rebounds. E.J. Dobbins distributed 10 assists to increase his league lead in that category. Moore finished with 15 points, 4 steals and 5 rebounds. Cross had 11 points and 7 rebounds. All 10 Heights players scored. 9 players had rebounds and 9 players had assists.
