Tennessee High School Volleyball - Victory Christian over Cleveland Christian
September 16, 2023: Cleveland, TN 37311 Victory Christian Cardinals (Sylva, NC) supporters left the game in high spirits Saturday as they observed their volleyball squad top the host Cleveland Christian Crusaders (Cleveland, TN), 3-1 in a non-league match.
Next up, the Cardinals clash with the New Manna Christian Wind (Marion, NC) in a NCCSA A District 1- West Region match, on Tuesday, September 19. Victory Christian will attempt to advance on its 7-2 season record. The Wind come into the match with a 3-3 record after their 3-0 non-league loss to Matthews Christian Academy (Matthews, NC).
With the loss, Cleveland Christian drops to 1-1 on the campaign.
Match Summary
7th grader Emily Smith with several big kills to win the first and third set. The third set was one off an ace serve from senior Elizabeth Stevens. Fourth set had many blocks by Zoe Vernelson and big digs from junior Brook Sanders. Zoe Vernelson was named to the all tournament team and Elizabeth Stevens was named tournament MVP
