August 26, 2022: Roanoke, VA 24016 In Friday's non-league game, the Alleghany Mountaineers (Covington, VA) football team knocked off the host Roanoke Catholic Celtics (Roanoke, VA), by a final score of 40-12.
The Mountaineers (1-0) will now prepare for their game against Bath County (Hot Springs, VA). The Chargers come into the non-league game with a 1-0 record. In their last game, Bath County toppled Covington (Covington, VA), 21-20, in a league game.
The Celtics now hold a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they host Atlantic Shores Christian for a non-league game on Friday, September 2. Roanoke Catholic will battle a Seahawks team coming off a 21-0 non-league win over Isle of Wight Academy (Isle of Wight, VA). The Seahawks record now stands at 1-0.
