In Saturday's non-league challenge, the Melrose Buffaloes (Melrose, NM) baseball squad edged the visiting Capitan Tigers (Capitan, NM), by a final score of 13-12.

With the win, Melrose upgrades its record to 6-4 on the season. The Buffaloes host Logan (Logan, NM) to encounter the Longhorns in a A District 3 challenge on Monday, April 18. The Longhorns come into the challenge with a record of 11-2. Logan won 10-0 in their recent league challenge against Grady (Grady, NM)

With the defeat, Capitan falls to 11-5 on the season. The Tigers host Lordsburg (Lordsburg, NM) to encounter the Mavericks in a 2A District 3 challenge on Saturday, April 23. The Mavericks come into the challenge with a record of 5-6.
