Merino Rams (Merino, CO) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Akron Rams (Akron, CO), 39-32 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Merino upgrades its record to 1-0 on the campaign. The Rams travel to Haxtun (Haxtun, CO) to play the Fightin' Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 4. The Fightin' Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 1-0. Haxtun won 59-48 in their recent non-league bout against Fleming (Fleming, CO)

Next up, the Rams play the Brush Beetdiggers (Brush, CO) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 7. Akron will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Beetdiggers come into the bout with a 1-1 record after their 48-26 non-league win over Weld Central (Keenesburg, CO).
