March 17, 2011: Huntington Beach, CA 92646 Spectators at Thursday's non-league match between the Edison Chargers (Huntington Beach, CA) and the visiting Orange Lutheran Lancers (Orange, CA), witnessed Edison's softball squad tip Orange Lutheran by a count of 4-1.
The Chargers now sport a 5-0 record. They play next when they host Foothill for a non-league match on Tuesday, March 22. Edison will face a Knights squad coming off a 4-2 non-league loss to Pacifica (Garden Grove, CA). The Knights record now stands at 8-3.
With the loss, Orange Lutheran moves to 7-2 on the season. The Lancers travel to Capistrano Valley (Mission Viejo, CA) to face the Cougars in a non-league match on Tuesday, March 22. The Cougars go into the match with a record of 2-6.
Game Summary
Edison outscored Orange Lutheran 4-1 in the championship game of the Laguna Hills tournament. Edison (5-0) was held to 3 hits in the game but combined 2 of those hits with a walk, a hit batter and 2 errors by OLu to score 4 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. The Lancers answered with a solo homerun by Olivia Sandusky in the bottom of the 4th, but were unable to score again. Savannah King was named to the all-tournament team and Sandusky was named the offensive MVP of the tournament. Karley Wester and Carissa Sherman were name to the all-tournament team and Ally Hecht was named the defensive MVP of the tournament.
