California High School Soccer - Helix nudges Mission Hills
December 4, 2008: La Mesa, CA 91941 Helix Highlanders (La Mesa, CA) fans were thrilled Thursday as they witnessed their soccer team get by the visiting Mission Hills Grizzlies (San Marcos, CA), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.
Next, the Highlanders battle the Otay Ranch Mustangs (Chula Vista, CA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, December 6. Helix will attempt to move on its 1-0 season record. The Mustangs go into the challenge with a 1-1 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to Mission Hills (San Marcos, CA).
The Grizzlies now have a 1-1 record. They play next when they travel to University City for a non-league challenge on Saturday, December 6. Mission Hills will battle a Centurions team coming off a 2-0 non-league loss to Bishop's (La Jolla, CA). The Centurions record now stands at 1-1.
First Half
Mission Hills bus arrived late so Grizzlies had little time to warm up and it showed. Took them 20 minutes to get into the flow of the game. Helix took a commanding lead getting two early goals against goal keeper Maya Matsumoto.
Second Half
Mission Hills played a much better half and forced a penalty kick that was converted by Senior defender Hannah Bass. Senior keeper Abby Monroe kept the Helix out of the goal to allow Mission Hill opportunities to equalize. M.H. had 7 shots but couldnt get it in the net
