Ohio High School Volleyball - Northview Steele
September 11, 2021: Amherst, OH 44001 The Steele Comets volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the visiting Northview Wildcats to 1 in the Comets non-league victory on Saturday.
The Comets now possess a 9-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Elyria for a Southwestern game on Tuesday, September 14. Steele will meet a Pioneers team coming off a 3-0 league loss to Avon Lake (Avon Lake, OH). The Pioneers record now stands at 4-5.
The Wildcats (4-3) will now prepare for their game against Southview (Sylvania, OH). The Cougars enter the Northern Lakes game with a 3-6 record. In their last game, Southview defeated Napoleon (Napoleon, OH), 3-0, in a league game.
Match Summary
AMHERST - In a huge non-conference match-up, Amherst Steele was able to defeat Sylvania Northview (4-3 overall, 3-0 NLL), winning three sets to one.
Leading for Northview was junior outside hitter, Kam Hunt, with 17 kills and junior outside hitter, Sydney Hires, with 10 kills. Sophomore setter, Natalie Kerchevall, chipped in 7 kills hitting .283 with 30 assists. Junior libero, Dani Wardrop contributed 22 digs and senior opposite, Madi Taylor, had 14 digs. Northview struggled from the beginning with errors and was unable to recover.
Northview returns to the court on Tuesday in the Crosstown Showdown as they travel to Southview.
