In Friday's league match, the visiting Mexia Black Cats football squad scored a good 47-21 victory over the Rusk Eagles.

In their next game, the Black Cats clash with the Connally Cadets (Waco, TX) in a 4A-2 Region II District 7 match, on Friday, October 16. Mexia will attempt to move on its 4-2 season record. The Cadets enter the match with a 1-5 record after their 49-35 league loss to Fairfield (Fairfield, TX).

The Eagles (1-5) will now prepare for their match against Lorena (Lorena, TX). The Leopards enter the 4A-2 Region II District 7 match with a 3-3 record. In their last match, Lorena ran past Groesbeck (Groesbeck, TX), 17-14, in a league match.
