Maryland High School Basketball - Virginia Academy nips Riverdale Baptist

January 25, 2023: Upper Marlboro, MD 20774

Virginia Academy Patriots (Ashburn, VA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Riverdale Baptist Crusaders (Upper Marlboro, MD), 50-44 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Virginia Academy upgrades its record to 12-9 on the season. The Patriots travel to Fairfax Christian (Dulles, VA) to play the Cardinals in a VISAA Division III bout on Saturday, January 28. The Cardinals go into the bout with a record of 14-10. Fairfax Christian won 63-47 in their recent league bout against Shabach Christian Academy Gold/Navy (Landover, MD)

Next up, the Crusaders play the King's Christian Academy (Callaway, MD) in a Maryland Independent bout, on Tuesday, January 31. Riverdale Baptist will attempt to upgrade on its 15-2 season record. The go into the bout with a 6-12 record after their 38-37 non-league loss to Patuxent (Lusby, MD).
