March 25, 2011: Gulfport, FL 33707 Boca Ciega Pirates (Gulfport, FL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Armwood Hawks (Seffner, FL), 8-5 in a non-league challenge.
The Pirates now own a 10-3 record. They take the field next when they host Tarpon Springs for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 4. Boca Ciega will battle a Spongers squad coming off a 9-4 non-league loss to East Bay (Gibsonton, FL). The Spongers record now stands at 6-10.
With the loss, Armwood falls to 2-10 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to Canterbury (St. Petersburg, FL) to battle the Crusaders in a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 26. The Crusaders enter the challenge with a record of 10-4. Canterbury won 10-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Berkeley Prep (Tampa, FL)
